We all took a day off and drove down to Tarpon Springs, Fl to see the old part of town. Tarpon Springs is where they still harvest sponges from the Gulf of Mexico and which is the Sponge Capital of the World. It has an Old Greek Heritage which is evident in the buildings in the older part of the town. Again it not only has the heritage but it has the great Greek food, bakeries and of course lots of souvenir shops because it is a big tourist spot.
I checked out the harbor facilities and talked to the dockmaster at the public marina about good places to anchor out. She said there is good anchorage behind Anclote Key so I will try to stop there on my way south.
